NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW.

When the MCU began in 2008, I was only 14 years old. I went with my brother to the former Mann theatre in Thousand Oaks and saw Iron Man. At the time, it seemed like another regular superhero film like Spider Man or Batman Begins. Little did we all know that 11 years later, we’d be here with a plethora of superheroes to enjoy that are all part of one giant world. It goes to show that there’s only one weakness with the MCU; and that is only a small handful of the 20 or so films work as fantastic stand-alone films like Logan or The Dark Knight. But that’s the beauty of cinema. You can go to the movies to critique and enjoy like I do, but you can also just sit back and enjoy, and not worry about certain plot holes or weak spots. After all, the MCU strives to be as coherent and realistic as many films out there today, which makes this franchise 20 times better than something like Fast and Furious.

We all were left to wonder what would come out of “Avengers: Endgame” after Infinity War proved to be all noise with nothing to gain. I kind of figured there was going to be no easy way to make everyone happy. When Dr. Strange said there were 14 million outcomes that were born out of the chaos of Thanos’ gauntlet, he wasn’t lying. Everyone, including me, had to go into this movie knowing this, and to just enjoy what you can enjoy. Luckily though, for the few faults in the back of my mind, there was so much to appreciate about “Endgame”.

This season finale like closure of the MCU is wild, fun, unpredictable, and filled with layers of inception that will bring you some head-turning surprises; even with some moments that you will see coming before you enter the theater. It’s a 3 hour joy ride into an energy filled ball of confusion that’s filled with elements of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings combined. The closer you get to the core, the more thrills and excitement you’re going to gain. TRUST ME ON THIS. You will have a moment where you look at the time and want the Endgame to be over. When that moment hits, you will have to count to 60, and then you’ll scream the rest of the way through. Everything I hoped would happen, did indeed happen. I’ll leave it up to you to interpret what that means.

Adding to that, the effects are once again put into full use and full budget, and look truly stunning and colorful. Along with that, some of the best performances are given in this installment, particularly by all 6 original Avengers, and especially RBJ. It only makes this ride even more suspenseful and bittersweet (with more on the sweet side).

I don’t know if I’ll continue with the MCU after this, as the bar has been set too high now, and I think my closure with superhero films has finally hit its peak. But if this movie is the end of an era for Marvel Studios, they surely ended it on top. Endgame truly earned its place as one of the best. It gives people what they want, and does almost everything it can to conclude an 11 year story on all scales and points. If Marvel wanted to make cinema history, congratulations. You sure did.

Two Nebs Up!
