"Ralph Breaks the Internet" Review - iWreck 10

We’re calling this movie “Wreck It Ralph 2”. I don’t care what Disney says. The long title of this movie is the only thing I hate about this movie. Everything else, my goodness is just perfect.

This sequel to the surprise hit of 2012 is nothing short of worthy. I give it the same kind of ranking as Incredibles 2 in that there are some things the sequel does better than the first even though the first one is just a hair better, but it’s not worth diving into as there was so much to love about this massive Disney hit.

For starters, Disney decided to put “The Emoji Movie” in its place by showing what the internet should really look like. It’s what Disney does best: creating worlds from scratch and getting every single detail right from the beauty to the pixels to making sure what comes out of someone’s imagination actually happens. The directors get an A+ on that once again.

But like the original Wreck It Ralph, what ties this already heartwarming story together in its entirety is it’s comedy both meta and child like. Voices actors John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman truly wreck it on the voice acting and I think are the best voicing duo since Billy Crystal and John Goodman in Monsters Inc. Both of them, along with a whole array of newbies like Gal Gadot add so much love and humor to both their characters and the writing that highlights both the pros and cons of a uniquely odd friendship, as well as the good and bad of the internet.

It’s got a lot of humor. The movie starts with a child-like crude joke, but don’t let it fool you. Ralph takes you on a crazy Alice In Wonderland like ride through so many different web worlds and will have you crying of laughter by simply just making fun of how we as users use the internet. Is the internet accurate? Not entirely. But it doesn’t matter one bit. Because once the poking fun at the internet starts, it doesn’t stop until the last minute of the film (which means stay for the credits). Of course, you also got the Disney princesses, which is a great scene even though I firmly believe Disney should have kept that more of a surprise. The princesses are like Cher in Mamma Mia 2. They appear, and they go. It’s a shot of laughter that is easily a highlight of the film, even though it doesn’t last for too long. What DOES come out of that scene though is something that evolves into quite possibly the BEST scene in the entire movie. You will just have to wait and see.

So yes, WIR2 is one hell of a great ride. Its got comedy as well as some major balls of heart that will make you want to see it again and again. It has a similar feel to what you’ve seen before, but as they say; everything that is old is new again. This is a new present you sure will have a hard time taking your eyes off of.

Two Nebs Up!
