"Ant Man and the Wasp" Review - A Feel Good Tap on the Head

One thing’s for sure is after Infinity War, we all needed a movie like this. This Ant Man sequel definitely delivers, and despite it’s flaws I may catch more clearly once I view it a second time, this movie is super funny and highly enjoyable just as much as any great Marvel film. I would say it’s definetly better than the first Ant Man, but it doesn’t reach to a Doctor Strange or Black Panther type quality.

This is partly due I think to the amount of villains and the amount of plot that was pushed together. There’s so much going on all the time and because it doesn’t really have time to develop its many antagonists, the whole script is not quite to the level it should be. However, Ghost, played by the amazing Hannah John-Kamen, is really well crafted and I very much enjoyed what she brought to the pack of Marvel villains, even though her powers didn’t really bring any cool fight scenes.

Ant Man and the Wasp however does deliver on the heartfelt part of the story that deals with family. I would go as far as saying this is the most family oriented film from Marvel since who knows when. It brought something different than just dealing with one bad guy; it had a sub plot that truly brought some heart-warning bonding into the MCU. It also delivers on some of the funniest comedy I’ve seen from a Marvel film in a very long time. Paul Rudd still manages to be a treasure to any film, and the script manages to give some great lines to all the characters. And of course, you still have Luis being the funniest Marvel character in history just by telling stories. LOL!

Overall, while a little iffy here and there, it mostly delivers on everything I like about MCU films and gives more than it should on other areas that are not touched upon in this crazy universe. It’s a wonderful palate cleanser after Infinity War……………………..that is until the mid credits scene.
