“I, Tonya” Is ridiculously amazing. I believe it’s because it’s a biopic that actually stands out for being unique.

The acting by Margot Robbie, Sebastian Stan, and Allison Janney (my goodness Allison Janney) is so intense, yet also moving and hilarious all across the board, and the music, settings, and cinematography all compliment to give life to a beautiful yet scary 90s sports environment.

But like I said, this film is unique in the way that it’s told. The writing is so damn wonderful because instead of having someone narrate their entire story like a fairy tale and having an over usage of drama, this film conducts “interviews” with every main character of the movie, which creates a multi-view angle of the events that surrounded Tonya’s life and incident that got her banned from ice skating. This method not only shines like the sun, but it also is so hilarious since these people are real life different as hell people.

But I refuse to call them weirdos. Because this film really does a spectacular job of connecting you through each character through every angle of Tonya’s life, every perspective of her life, and how she impacted everyone around her. In the end, Tonya Harding is still a little crazy, but she is by no means a monster. This movie was meant to clear all the taint that came with her name, and while her life may not be fully back to what she wants, at least everybody now knows her full story. If she really is white trash, she’s the most determined and awesome piece of white trash there is that just so happens to be one of the best ice skaters in history. Such a wonderful way to close the book on all her madness.

But while this film is about her, I promise you it’s one of those films you just think about all the time after you leave the theatre. It stands on it’s own, as well as has everything it needs to so you can remember it. Humor, singularity, and well done filmmaking. That’s a film worth high scores in my book.

Two Nebs Up!
