It is disappointing seeing how this film only made 30 million this weekend. It is disappointing that movie audiences don’t care about quality films. Blade Runner 2049 is easily one of the best films to come out this year.

Give or take a few scenes they could’ve easily cut down to NOT make it almost 3 hours long, every single scene and shot of this movie is hands down breathtaking. I think the beauty of Roger Deakins’ camerawork is worth every single dollar of your admission. The colors, the lighting, the fight scenes, I get goosebumps just even typing about it. How one man can create these kind of shots in a film that also compliment the incredible special effects used, I will never understand.

The story is more complicated than the original, so it loses a bit of its wonderful philosophy that the first one had. You must see at least one of the many versions of the original Blade before you see this. If you don’t, you are not going to have a fun time. I had to wikipedia the plot after the movie to understand some of what happened, and I literally watched the 1982 film 2 days ago. The writing is not bad at all, but it is a complicated plot that you really have to focus on to understand. The incredible acting performances from Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Sylvia Hoeks, and many more at least keep you energized the whole time.

Given it’s couple faults, 2049 still manages to be a masterpiece of filmmaking that only elevates Dennis Villeneuve’s status as one of the best directors of this century! If you have the energy to sit through LOTR or The Revenant, you will be able to sit through this. I promise you. The effort put into this piece of works will make you cry like you're in rain.

Two Nebs Up!
