"Arrival" Review - One Hot Entry and Landing

“Arrival” is absolutely brilliant. In a world full of reboots and movies based of true stories, this is the kind of film I want to see being made in Hollywood more often.

So first off, FULLY ORIGINAL. It’s a brand new idea that didn’t even remind me of a single old film. That's how new it feels. The script is so beautiful and complex, that it may take you another viewing to fully understand it. But if you do need to go back and watch it a second time, that’s okay, because the visuals, the cinematography, the music, and the Hitchcock-esque suspense will keep you entertained for probably 10+ viewings. The director, who also did Sicario, is proving very well so early in the game, that he is the new master of suspense and imagination.

All and all, “Arrival” is one of the most perfect sci-fi movies I’ve ever seen. It blends a creative idea, and merges that with the right political climate, character acting, and scientific facts and fiction to create one of the most real and thoughtful films this year.

Any other words I use will be just “oooohhh” and “aaahhh” like I’m speaking in 3rd grade language. So I’m going to end it like this: be ready to get high with surprise and wonder.
