Let’s talk about “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. Again, this review is 100% SPOILER FREE.
I’ve had a passionate love for Star Wars ever since Revenge of the Sith. As good as the films are (excluding 1 and 2), Episodes 3-6 have always been pure entertainment to me, like the Marvel movies, with the exception of Episode 5. The most passion filmmaking was put into Empire and that was the only one of the 6 episodes that became a classic masterpiece for reasons I could go on forever about. But for the longest time, I never believed any space odyssey film could top Empire Strikes Back. Well my friends, Episode 7 did not top Empire, but it surely blows the other 5 films out of the water.
This is my 2nd favorite film behind Empire. The story truly takes inspiration from the past films, but builds a brighter future for the episodes ahead. The effects and cinematography are absolutely brilliant, and the characters were all crafted so well, whether in costume or personality. Of course, it was awesome seeing all the old characters again being their same old awesome selfs, but Daisy Ridley, John Bodega, and Adam Driver are some of the finest actors Lucasfilm could find. Whether they live to tell the tale in the next 2 movies as you'll find out yourself, these actors bring a fine addition to the passion that makes "Star Wars" so amazing. The only thing that bugged me was Supreme Leader Snoke. You'll see in the movie he's designed like one of those aliens from "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and it looks really bad. But other than him, this film ends on such a perfect note that will leave you in anticipation for the next 2 episodes.
Buckle up when you see this. It's a wild ride filled with excitement, fear, heartbreak, and everything in between. Well done JJ Abrams. Well done.
Also, John Williams is a god. He's half of what makes "Star Wars" incredible. I hope he lives up to 200 more years!
