All I can say about “The Imitation Game” is described in one word. Terrific. This movie is so terrific, I don’t even know where to begin.
For starters, many are going to love this movie simply because it’s about WWII. A lot of Oscar winner and nominees have simply been praised too much because it’s about WWII. So first let me say, this is more of a science movie then it is about the War. But it’s even more than science. It’s about the oddballs in the world rising up to be someone historic.
The movie is about Alan Turing, the genius who basically designs a machine that turns the tide of the entire war and saves tens of millions of lives. “The Imitation Game” is not overblown with great writing, or technological fleets, or even performances; rather it has the perfect amount of greatness and perfection in each aspect of a film that makes it an enjoyable piece of work for many years to come. It’s a movie people can watch over and over again and not get tired of. Plus, Benedict Cumberbatch once again proves how much badassery he can add to a film.
The only thing I would complain about if anything is that there are two scenes in the movie where Benedict is doing his thing, and then it cuts to him in gym shorts and a tank top running through a dirt road. Those 2 shots are incredibly pointless, but I bet the director was just like, “you know what, we have to make the ladies’ pants drop somehow. Let’s throw these 2 shots in here just for fun!”
Anyways, it’s inspirational, tense, beautiful, and perfectly crafted to the bone, and I freakin love it. People, this is a must see, and officially in my top 3 movies of the year!
